Conferences & Training

All interested stakeholders are kindly invited to participate in the two-day conference “Safe NANO Innovations”  on chemical safety of nanomaterials. The conference is organized by the Bureau for Chemical Substances and BioTechMed Advanced Technology Centre in Lodz represented by Lodz University of Technology,  Lodz Regional Park of Science and Technology and the Nofer Institute of Occupational Medicine.

Top-class keynote speakers and cross-cutting approach to the question of nanotechnology are the core elements of the event. The first day of the conference will be dedicated to the review of achievements and perspectives of this dynamic field. Lectures will be given by representatives of academia and industry actively involved in the research and development of nanotechnology. During the second day of the conference, the debate will concentrate mainly on the safety of nanomaterials, current legislation and regulatory aspects of chemicals, in particular in relation to nanoforms. For example the issue of registration and assessment of nanomaterial, as well as their use will be discussed, especially in the context of associated risk.

During the conference, presentations will be delivered , inter alia, by the representatives of:

  • The European Commission;
  • The European Cheimcals Agency in Helsinki – ECHA;  
  • The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development – OECD;
  • The United Nations Institute for Training and Research – UNITAR;
  • European Chemical Industry Council – CEFIC;
  • Academia
  • NGO’s

The Conference „Safe NANO Innovations” will be held in Lodz, on October 15-16, 2012 at Lodz Regional Park of Science and Technology, Dubois 114/116 Street. The language of the conference will be Polish and English (simultaneous translation will be provided).

The participation in the conference is free of charge, however it is necessary to fill in the registration form available at the following website: www.chemikalia.gov.pl.  There you can also find the agenda of the conference, detailed practical information as well as the contact details to the organizers.

The conference is addressed to the representatives of the industry, academic institutions, public administration and all those interested in nano-related issues. The conferences will constitute a great opportunity to get acquainted with the latest European legislation, current trends in the development of nanotechnology and possible way forward in this field.
